Matthew 16:18
“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.”
I kept hearing the phrase, “Upon this rock, I will build my Church, and the gates of hell will not prevail.” As I dug into Scripture, especially Matthew 16:18, I discovered its profound context.
Jesus said this in Caesarea Philippi, a place famous for pagan worship, with a massive rock cliff and a cave that locals referred to as “the gates of Hades.” So, when Jesus talked about the gates of hell, He was literally standing before what people believed to be hell’s entrance. That wasn’t accidental. Jesus was making a spiritual declaration in enemy territory.
Sometimes, we must summon the courage to step into the enemy's territory. I hear the Lord saying, I am sending you through the gates!!!!!! “I am building my church upon my rock.” Just as Peter’s name signifies rock, he was called with boldness to deliver my word, bringing forth 3,000 souls as the early church was established.
I am calling my servants to rise to a higher standard! For I have made my presence known to my servants in the secret place. In this season of change, you will not experience a burnout; instead, you will find healing from spiritual abuse and be restored to the authority that was misused by others.
You will speaks truth without fear, you will carry discernment without arrogance, and you will Walk in authority without striving. I have called you to break through the gatekeepers of hell to establish a people who will rise above governmental systems and religious patterns, to break generational cycles and strongholds that tried to contain you.
Your authority was born in warfare, the enemy tried to stop you at the gate but God said: “That gate will become your testimony.” -Apostle Catrina Garrett
